Essential Requirements for Stryker
To run Stryker effectively on your Android device, certain requirements must be met:
- Android Version: Your device must be running Android 8.0+. I run it on Android 10 and 11.
- Root Access: Root access (specifically with Magisk 23.0+) is mandatory.
- Avoid Samsung: The developers do not recommend Samsung devices due to identified (though unpatterned) errors, particularly on stock firmware, which they are working to address.
Initial Setup
Setting up Stryker is quick and user-friendly. It’s recommended to create an account using a valid email address in the app or via the official Stryker website.

After verifying your email, your account will automatically be granted premium access, completely free, with an extended expiration date set to December 31, 2050.

Exploring the Stryker Interface
Stryker’s interface is designed for efficient navigation and powerful functionality, combining a clean main menu with quick access to tools like WiFi scanning, local network analysis, exploit management, and Metasploit integration. The app’s settings menu allows users to customize scanning behavior, interface commands, and privacy options. Its main features screen highlights essential modules such as Nmap, MAC changer, VNC, and Captive Portal, while also offering advanced tools like the Adapter Suggester for chipset compatibility. Together, these elements make Stryker a comprehensive and very user-friendly.

List of External Adapter Support
One of Stryker’s standout features is its native support for external WiFi adapters, much like Kali NetHunter. This allows users to perform wireless attacks and monitoring with greater range and reliability. To make setup easier, Stryker includes a built-in Adapter Suggestor—a handy activity that helps users choose compatible adapters by chipset, ensuring seamless integration. Whether you’re targeting packet injection or monitor mode, this feature simplifies the process for both beginners and pros. Example of some adapters is in Figure 5.
A full list of supported WiFi adapters and their chipsets is provided at the end of this blog.

From the setting you can then manually pre-select which interface will be used for which purpose.

Bonus Tool: SimpleUSB – USB Device Identifier
Alongside Stryker, the developer also created SimpleUSB—an open-source Android app designed to identify USB-connected devices. Whether you’re plugging in a wireless adapter, smartphone, printer, webcam, or even a game controller, SimpleUSB can recognize over 20,000 devices based on their vendor and product IDs.

It works without root access, making it ideal for quickly checking compatibility or identifying unknown hardware. When a USB device is connected, Android reads its unique identifiers, and SimpleUSB matches them against its internal database to display the device name and version. It’s especially handy for verifying external WiFi adapters before using them with Stryker. Below you can see a use case example:
Deep Dive into Stryker’s Powerful Features
Stryker packs a suite of tools for various pentesting scenarios. Here’s a closer look at some of its key functionalities:
- Wifi Scanner: Stryker offers permissionless Wi-Fi scanner that detects SSIDs, encryption types, and vendors. Once a network is selected, users can launch targeted attacks based on the network’s security protocol. You can use Stryker to check for all common Wi-Fi vulnerabilities and launch attacks with just a click. This could involve checks for weak encryption, WPS vulnerabilities, or other common Wi-Fi attack vectors.
- WPS Attacks:
- Pixie Dust: Exploits weak WPS implementations to retrieve the PIN and decrypt the password.
- Common Pins: Attempts connection using a list of default or commonly used WPS PINs.
- Pin Brute: Brute-forces the WPS PIN by trying all possible combinations.
- Custom Pin: Allows manual input of a specific WPS PIN for testing.
- WPA/WPA2/WPA3 Attacks:
- PMK Capture: Captures Pairwise Master Key for offline cracking.
- HS Capture: Captures the 4-way handshake during client connection.
- PSK Brute: Brute-forces the Pre-Shared Key using a wordlist.
- Deauth: Sends deauthentication packets to force clients to reconnect, enabling handshake capture.

- Local Network Scanner: This tool helps you detect vendors, operating systems, services, device names, types, and even smartphone models within your local network. With this feature, you can detect, brute-force, and exploit most common device vulnerabilities in one click Kali Linux users commonly rely on Nmap for comprehensive network scanning and host discovery. Then allows further interaction through various tools and attack modules.
- Generate Detail Report: Compiles a full profile of the target device including IP, MAC, OS fingerprint, and open ports.
- Check Common Vulnerabilities: Scans for known CVEs and misconfigurations based on detected services.
- Disable Internet Access: Sends crafted packets (e.g., ARP spoofing) to block the device’s internet connectivity.
- Start Bruteforce: Attempts to brute-force login credentials for services like SSH, FTP, or HTTP.
- Check Camera: Probes for accessible IP cameras or webcam streams on the device.
- Check Admin Panel: Searches for web-based admin interfaces and attempts to access them.
- Launch Metasploit: Opens a Metasploit session targeting the selected device.
- Generate Payload: Creates a custom payload for remote access or testing.
- Send Wake on LAN: Sends a magic packet to wake up a device that supports WoL.
- Run Custom Exploit: Executes a user-defined exploit script against the target.

- Handshakes: Stored captured WPA/WPA2 handshakes

- Exploit Hub: Launches known exploits. Provides a GUI to run preloaded or custom exploits against targets

- Exploit Database: Lists known vulnerabilities from SearchSploit. Pulls from CVE and custom databases to show exploit details.

- Web Scanner: Uses the Nuclei engine to detect web vulnerabilities like XSS, SQLi, and misconfigurations. It runs fast, template-based scans directly from your device, making it ideal for quick audits or deep testing of websites and web apps.
- RScan: This feature allows you to scan routers for over 20 vulnerabilities and default passwords, either via an IP range or IP mask. It also supports report generation and multi-threading.

- GeoMac: Locates MAC addresses geographically. Uses public databases to map MAC addresses to physical locations.

- Metasploit Framework: Stryker includes the Metasploit, a open-source penetration testing framework widely used on Kali Linux for executing, and testing exploits. Unfortunately, it wasn’t able to initialize successfully.

- Mac Changer: Spoofs MAC address. Temporarily changes device MAC for anonymity or bypassing filters.

- Nmap Scanner: Performs detailed port and service scans. Integrates Nmap to run customizable scans on selected targets.

- VNC: Launches VNC client to access remote GUI sessions.

- Captive Portal: Stryker supports Captive Portal functionalities by first enabling Wifi Hotspot in Android’s menu. Then it is possible to start captive portal and monitor connected devices.

Exploring Alternatives on Android
While Stryker offers a comprehensive solution, other tools exist for Android pentesting, though they may have different focuses or require more manual configuration. Although not directly mentioned in the sources as alternatives, common tools in the Android pentesting community include:
- Kali NetHunter: A well-known Android ROM overlay that brings Kali Linux tools to rooted Android devices. Stryker considers NetHunter a competitor, but also notes that they are working towards collaboration, believing they can complement each other. For more info about Nethunter, take a look at my Kali NetHunter 101: Your Path to Mobile Ethical Hacking series.
- Bettercap: (This is outside the provided sources. Bettercap is a powerful, flexible, and portable tool for performing various types of MITM attacks, network reconnaissance, and Wi-Fi exploitation.). You can check my tutorial on how tu setup and use Bettercap using Android smartphone.
- Airmon-ng: (This is primarily a Linux tool from the Aircrack-ng suite, but it’s leveraged by Kali Nethunter on Android. The source mentions Wifite as a tool that Stryker incorporates, and Wifite itself relies on components like Airmon-ng for Wi-Fi attacks.)
Protecting Yourself: Prevention Tips
Since Stryker is a tool designed to find and exploit vulnerabilities, understanding its capabilities can inform defensive strategies. While the sources don’t detail specific prevention tips, common cybersecurity best practices are crucial:
- Disable WPS on your router to prevent PIN-based attacks like Pixie Dust.
- Strong, Unique Passwords: Use complex and unique passwords for all your accounts and devices, and consider using a password manager. Avoid default passwords.
- Regular Updates: Keep your operating systems, applications, and firmware (especially for routers and IoT devices) updated to patch known vulnerabilities that tools like Stryker might exploit.
- Monitor for unauthorized devices and use network segmentation.
- Disable auto-connect to open WiFi networks.
- Use strong, unique passwords for all network services (SSH, FTP, admin panels).
- Disable unused services and close unnecessary ports.
- Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems: Configure firewalls on your devices and consider network-level IDS/IPS solutions.
- Be Wary of Public Wi-Fi: Exercise caution when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks, as they can be vectors for various attacks, including captive portal exploits.
- Disable Unused Services: Turn off any network services or protocols on your devices that you don’t actively use.
- Enable MAC filtering and hide SSID (though not foolproof, it adds a layer of obscurity).
Conclusion
Stryker offers a practical and convenient way to perform penetration testing on the go, right from your smartphone. Its user-friendly interface and comprehensive feature set make it accessible even to those without extensive cybersecurity backgrounds. The ability to scan Wi-Fi and local networks, manage exploits, and integrate powerful tools like Metasploit, all from an Android device, truly defines it as a “convenient tool for pentest”.
